Colour was an exhibition, no. 1035 in order, from the ambitious and well-organized state’s experimental activities with national exhibitions (later Riksutställningar). A tour plan was made and Södertälje was number ten of thirteen planned exhibitions for municipalities in Sweden.

The exhibition arrives in a bus on January 17.th. Ulla Beskow from national exhibitions sends an information folder about the exhibition and urges that some responsible person attend the “unloading”. The entire exhibition costs SEK 500. The illustrated catalog that deals with color teaching and can be used outside the exhibition costs SEK 4.

The producer for the working group is K-G Nilson. “The exhibition has not been made with a view to any particular category of visitors, but is aimed to everyone. Through the pedagogical approach where the art pieces are explained step by step and through the many unconventional examples, it contributes to arousing interest in color. ”, Explains K-G Nilson. But in his memo for the exhibition and in the pedagogical guide that is presented, emphasis is placed above all on the direction towards the Upper Secondary School’s teaching. A special tour is offered to all drawing teachers, who initiate the interdisciplinary in the field. The examples come from the visual arts, the material is especially useful in aesthetic contexts are emphasized. K.G. Nilson wrote:

“The exhibition “Colour” wants to draw attention to an obvious but often overlooked part of reality – color. It is not the color as material that is displayed but the color as perception and experience”.

Works by artists such as Josef Albers, Olle Bœrtling, Kandinsky, Herbin, Seurat, Vasarely are shown to “/… / illustrate the color effect from different aspects. The guide also includes an exact drawing of how the exhibition material should be placed.
