The legal right to learn to read and write did not exist in Sweden before 1842 when public primary school was introduced. Not everyone had access to books.

In the days before public libraries, most libraries were private. “Why books?” is an art exhibition about the importance of books. Participating artists: Mikael Lundberg, Emma Kihl, Love Antell, Anne Traegde, Ylva Trapp, Denise Grünstein, Kajsa Dahlberg, Henrik Andersson, Lina Persson, Magnus Lönn and Richard Årlin. Production: Luna kulturhus.
