The graphics school was run at the start in 1964 by ABF and on the initiative of the graphic artist Bertil Lundberg as a teacher. At the start, 24 students were admitted, divided into day and evening, and a long queue was formed by the applicant to enter. Bertil Lundberg’s teaching is advanced, individual and free. Each student is allowed to work in the way he thinks suits him best, writes Viola Robertson. The premises were located in a closed cliché institution at Stora Nygatan 55. After the first two semesters, what was achieved in a first exhibition FORUM GRAFIK was shown as a student exhibition. Robertson further writes “But the exhibition can perhaps be said to be more than an annual report; it also wants to draw attention to the possibilities that the school has to become a vitamin injection in southern Sweden’s art life, where artist education has for too long been a rather neglected chapter. The school will, it must be assumed, become an incentive for artistic renewal and a significant step in the desirable decentralization of art life. ”

At the time of the art gallery’s exhibition, the school was on a floor that was made available by the city of Malmö paying the rent. “However, the initiators hope that the school will soon be paid for by the state and included in a planned art academy in Malmö /… / Both teachers and students at “Forum” have been awarded international awards at graphics biennials several times writes Eje Högestätt at Södertälje konsthall.

The exhibiting artists were: Gertrud Andersson, Bente Bjerregaard, Bengt Böckman, Hasse Hasselgren, Mariana Manner, Bertil Mauritzon, Helmtrud Nyström, Aimo Olsson, Christina Ringsberg, Gert Sparr, Per Svensson, Bertil Warnolf and Stellan Widholm. Almost all students were in their 30s and 40s.
