At the 50th anniversary, Södertälje konstnärskrets (Södertälje artist association) had a member exhibition on the theme 50×50. A mathematical game with the age of the circle and the format of the exhibited works of art. Therefore, it was appropriate to have a revival at the 60th anniversary, but now of course with the format 60×60. Of the 84 members, 67 participated with works on the theme “borders” in various techniques such as watercolor, collage, photography, graphics, painting, sculpture, drawing, textiles, video. A catalog was made for the exhibition, with Kjell Carlsson as editor, where all participants’ works were represented in pictures.
Södertälje konstnärskrets is an artists’ association that runs activities on a non-profit basis. The own Gallery circuit and graphics workshop is located in the old girls’ school on Orionkullen in central Södertälje.
Since 1972, the Södertälje artists’ association has had an occasional collaboration with Södertälje konsthall. The anniversary exhibitions have been a recurring feature only since the 15th anniversary celebrations. In between, the art gallery has invited one or more members of the association to exhibit separately or together. Other collaborations have been of a more international nature. To name a few: traveling exhibition with graphics 1990-91, Meeting Place- north European Contemporary Art 2003 and since 2008 an ongoing exhibition exchange with Japan.” The latter collaboration is still ongoing today 2020.
